GIVING

At Gateway Church, we believe in the power of giving. Paul teaches in the 2nd letter to the Corinthians that God loves a cheerful giver, and that we should not give reluctantly or under compulsion. You see, we believe God’s love transforms us into becoming a more generous people, and that through a relationship we learn to give in abundance just as God’s love has been given to us in abundance. Giving is not just about providing for the needs of the church, it’s about investing in something greater than ourselves. It’s about making a difference in our community and in the world.
When you give, you are participating in God’s work of transforming the world. Our mission is to invest in and invite people into a growing relationship with Jesus. And that is what we believe transforms the world. Your donations help to fund our programs and services, from feeding the hungry to caring for the homeless. It also helps to support our programs and activities, such as small groups, outreach, weekend experiences or youth ministry.

Greetings! It was wonderful to meet you and others in your church family a few weeks ago during your Nonprofit Fair. We were so encouraged by your church’s heart for meeting the needs of others in the name of Jesus. We have already utilized some of the gift cards that you sent, but I wanted to share one way in particular that a gift card you all gave us allowed us to minister to a hurting woman. One of our Client Counselors had been working with an expectant mom for several weeks when that mom delivered very prematurely and the baby did not survive. The client informed our staff member of the loss and shared that the baby could be cremated for free but that she could not afford an urn to receive the ashes. Our Client Counselor was able to give her one of the gift cards from your church so this momma could purchase an urn on Amazon. I know this is not a light-hearted story of adoption, but I wanted to share how you all joined with us in meeting a hurting mother in her time of need and honoring the life that she had carried. Although an adoption plan did not take place and there is no cute image of a baby to show, the raw ministry of walking with vulnerable women in an unexpected pregnancy was done and the precious value of her child’s life was honored. Thank you for joining with us as we continue ministering to the women God brings to us, no matter how the journey plays out.

With hope,
Loren Rae
