ABOUT GATEWAY
Gateway Church exists to invest in and invite people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. MEET THE STAFFWHAT WE BELIEVEGATEWAY’S ORIGIN
Listen to our founding pastor, Matt Hearn, tell the story of how Gateway started.
SAME BIBLE.
DIFFERENT CHURCH.
Because of this vision, Gateway has always been a place where people from all walks of life can build community and, most importantly, meet Jesus and grow in their faith. Though we lost Matt to cancer in 2021, the mandate of “Same Bible, Different Church” will always remain a part of our DNA. That’s why life at Gateway flows out of two key concepts:
Discipleship and Service.
Discipleship simply means that we want to learn more about and then be more like Jesus. Service is how we put our faith into action, doing our best to care for our community and create opportunities for people to get to know the love of Jesus. Together, Discipleship and Service help us grow a deeply-rooted faith that honestly loves the community around us.
From our early days at the West Chatham YMCA until now, we’ve seen a lot of things change, but the heart of Gateway has always been and will always be our commitment to investing in and inviting people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. We can’t wait to see what God does in and through you at Gateway!
GATEWAY'S CORE VALUES
It's our DNA.WHAT WE BELIEVE
We believe that God is the Creator and ruler of the universe. He exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
These three are one God.
Genesis 1:1 & 26-27 | Genesis 3:22 | Psalm 90:2 | Matthew 28:19 | I Peter 1:2
II Corinthians 13:1
The Holy Spirit leads us, comforts, sustains and empowers believers and guides them in their pursuit of truth. The Holy Spirit convinces the world of sin, righteousness and judgment.
John 14:14-19 | John 16:12-15 | John 20:19-23 | Acts 1:6-8 | Romans 8:1-17
Salvation is the forgiveness of our sin, deliverance from bondage, and the gift of new life in Christ. It is a process that begins when you accept Christ as your Lord and Savior. Salvation gives victory over sin and death.
Mark 2:1-5 | Mark 10:28-31 | Mark 28:45 | Romans 5:15-21 | II Corinthians 5:18-21
Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
He is equal with the Father.
He lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days showing His power over sin and death. He ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father. He serves as the only bridge between God and people. He will return to earth one day to reign as Lord over all.
Matthew 1:22-23 | John 1:1-5 | John 14:10-30 | Hebrews 4:14-15 | I Corinthians 15:3-4 | Romans 1:3-4 | Acts 1:9-11 | I Timothy 6: 14-15 | Titus 2:13
The Bible is God’s Word for all mankind. It was written by human authors under the divine guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living.
Proverbs 30:5 | Psalm 119:105 | Psalm 160 | II Timothy 3:16 | II Peter 1:20- 21
A Christian is a person who accepts Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and strives to live an obedient life through the power of the Holy Spirit.
